Dear Parents:

Our school has been identified as an official Title I school. Comanche Elementary School qualifies for this federal program, which provides extra math and reading support for students by a formula based on the percentage of students who qualify to receive free or reduced lunch benefits in the school.

Because we qualify for these special resources, the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) requires us to meet specific criteria referred to as Annual Measurable Objectives (AMO) as defined by the state of Kansas and determined by a formula that considers:

• The performance of third through sixth grade students on the Kansas math assessment
• The performance of third through sixth grade students on the Kansas reading assessment

Federal guidelines mandate that Title I schools provide parents the right to know. As a parent you have the right to know: 

The qualifications of your child's classroom teacher, such as: 

• Whether or not the teacher is certified in Kansas 
• Whether the certification is emergency or provisionary
• The teacher’s college major and if he/she has advance degrees
• Whether aides or paraprofessionals are providing services to your child and, if so, his/her qualifications

How your child performed on the Kansas reading and math assessments 

I will be able to share with you information regarding your child’s performance on the state assessment after April 2027 when all assessments are completed. Information about our staff credentials and our test scores are public information and will be listed in our state report card.

Creating Family School Community Partnerships

The school-parent compact is a written agreement that outlines how the entire school staff, students, and parents will share responsibility for student academic achievement, as well as describes how the school and parents will build and develop a partnership that will help children achieve the state’s high academic standards.

Through a process that included teachers, families, students and community representatives, the following are agreed upon roles and responsibilities that we as partners will carry out to support student success in school and in life.

School Responsibility: At Comanche Elementary we understand the importance of the school experience to every student and will carry out the following responsibilities:

• Provide high-quality curriculum and instruction in a supportive and effective learning environment.
• Provide parents and families with strategies/activities to assist their child(ren) with the curriculum and instruction delivered that enables each student to meet the State’s performance standards
• Treat each student with dignity and respect.
• Acknowledge parents as critical partners in the success of the school and each student and provide opportunities to learn about and support the school and school community.
• Ensure regular two-way, meaningful communication between family members and school staff and, to the extent practicable, in a language that family members can understand.
• Strive to address the individual needs of your child(ren).

Parent Responsibility: As a Parent – It is important I support my child’s learning in the following ways:

• Communicate and advocate for the needs of my child with appropriate staff members.
• Participate, as appropriate, in decisions relating to my child’s education.
• Monitor and support attendance at school and timely attendance to class.
• Provide time and a place for my child to complete homework when assigned.
• Encourage my child to play a positive and active role in the school community
• Consistently monitor and review teacher, school, and district communications.
• Celebrate my child’s efforts and achievements.
• Be an active and engaged member of the school community.

Student Responsibility: To perform to the best of my ability as a student in charge of my learning, it is important that I:

• Communicate regularly with my teacher and family if I need support in any way to help me be successful.
• Develop a positive attitude toward school.
• Attend school regularly, ready to learn and work hard.
• Always be a positive role model in the building and classroom.
• Complete assigned work every day and ask for help when needed.

El pacto entre la escuela y los padres es un acuerdo escrito que establece cómo todo el personal escolar, los estudiantes y los padres compartirán la responsabilidad del rendimiento académico de los estudiantes, así como cómo la escuela y los padres construirán y desarrollarán una colaboración que ayude a los niños a alcanzar los altos estándares académicos del estado.

A través de un proceso que incluyó a profesores, familias, estudiantes y representantes comunitarios, se abordan los siguientes roles y responsabilidades que nosotros, como socios, desempeñaremos para apoyar el éxito estudiantil en la escuela y en la vida.

Responsabilidad de la escuela: En Comanche Elementary School entendemos la importancia de la experiencia escolar para cada estudiante y desempeñaremos las siguientes responsabilidades:

• Ofrecer un currículo e instrucción de alta calidad en un entorno de aprendizaje eficaz y de apoyo.
• Proporcionar a padres y familias estrategias o actividades para ayudar a su(s) hijo(s) con el currículo y la instrucción impartidos que permitan a cada estudiante cumplir con los estándares de rendimiento del Estado

Responsabilidad de los padres: Como padre – Es importante apoyar el aprendizaje de mi hijo de las siguientes maneras:

• Comunicar y defender las necesidades de mi hijo con el personal adecuado.
• Participar, según corresponda, en las decisiones relacionadas con la educación de mi hijo.
• Supervisar y apoyar la asistencia a la escuela y la asistencia puntual a clase.
•  Proporcionar tiempo y un lugar para que mi hijo haga las tareas cuando se le asigne.
• Animar a mi hijo a desempeñar un papel positivo y activo en la comunidad escolar
• Supervisar y revisar de forma constante las comunicaciones entre profesores, escuelas y distrito.
• Celebrar los esfuerzos y logros de mi hijo.
• Sé un miembro activo y comprometido de la comunidad escolar.

Responsabilidad del estudiante: Para rendir al máximo como estudiante responsable de mi aprendizaje, es importante que:

• Comunicarme regularmente con mi profesor y mi familia si necesito apoyo de cualquier forma para tener éxito.
• Desarrollar una actitud positiva hacia la escuela.
• Asistir a la escuela regularmente, listo para aprender y trabajar duro.
• Ser siempre un modelo positivo en el edificio y en el aula.
• Completar el trabajo asignado cada día y pedir ayuda cuando la necesite.

No se requiere la firma de este documento, pero se recomienda como indicación de que he consultado y leído esta información, que pretende señalar una colaboración continua entre la escuela y la familia.
